I went to set the timing on my 1989 90hp crossflow today with a test wheel and was unable to get to 5800 rpms. The max it would go was to 5K. The test wheel does not have the same model number that was recommend by omc for my motor, but i was told that it would work the same. Im not sure if it was because motor was too deep in the water or if its just normal.
I set the timming to 28degrees( it was around 32 before adjustment-powerhead rebuilt 20hrs), at full trottle (5k test wheel). My question is it okay the way i did the adjustment? also will the timing change when it gets to 5800k or will it stay the same since i did it at full throttle?

Thanks
dave
