I just replaced 2 tachs on my 2002 Searay 280 Sundancer. They are OEM from Searay. The back of the tachs have a dial which can point to different settings. The back is maked P= pulse and C= cyl ( I assume this means cylinders). One of the options was marked 6C, P3. I have V6 Mercruisers so I set it at this setting. Coming out of the box it was set to 6P. Other settings had 8cyl and 2p etc. Does anyone know if I chose the right setting? There were no instructions in the box.

Re: settings on back of tach

you have it set correctly. the v6 engine produces 3 pulses per rev since it is a four stroke.

Thanks. That is good to hear. I didn't want to have to pull them out again.
