I am looking to get a transom mounted trolling motor for a 14 ft aluminum Mirrocraft just like the one pictured. Should the shaft length be 30 or 36 inches? Experience anyone?

Lay a tape measure on the transom from the highest part to the bottom of the transom, add one foot and that's the shortest you should get. I don't think you would go wrong with a 36" TM because the TM can be adjusted up or down for the easiest operation.

I was thinking of getting this model. It says salt water but I assume its okay to use it in fresh water without a problem?
