Shake down run!

After replacing PDS bearings, new bellow, changed drive oil, and new impeller it was time for a splash. This boat has not touched water since 05. Running fat pig rich on idle. Vacumn was 12-14. Holley 80309 dual feed. Carb was rebuilt by me last year.

New plugs soaked with fuel. Pulled carb, base gasket wet on port side, raw fuel on intake runner. I noticed my primary's were open pretty far for idle circuit to function properly. Air/fuel screw was not responding like I would think. All the way screwed in and vacumn got better.

Boat pulled hard and had lots of power out of the hole. With the exception of smokey idle I was impressed with the performance. Got home and opened bellow to have a look and a little water poured out.

Multiple issues in this thread, but would like some opinions on carb and water in bellow and did I just trash my new sealed bearing?

Re: Shake down run!

Water in the bellows means you have a hole in it, or it's installed wrong. Tightening the clamps too tight can punch holes in it, as well as having the clamps positioned wrong.
Or the surfaces where the bellows go may have been corroded or ............

Carb, could be lots of things. Improper rebuild, wrong settings, hard to say. Did you put in the right gaskets?

Brand new vp bellow, no holes that I can see going to reposition it. Clamps were installed in original position. It was not a lot of water but I shouldn't see any.

I matched up all gaskets before taking off old ones. Thanks for the the reply Don!
