Shallow water with I/O troller?

After reading about how much running the I/O in
trailer up position in shallow water shortens the life of an I/O I was wondering if there are electric trolling motors that could be transom
mounted and had electrical or hydraulic lift to
get out of the way. The engine mount trollers from Minn-Kota wouln't help because those work in the I/O down mode. Is it OK to keep the engine running in neutral in trailer up to keep the batteries charged? I don't know enough about where the mechanical disconnect on my 84 Mercruiser 140 18' Century is in relation to the to the parts that are damaged by running in trailer up.
If anyone has any idea's I would appreciate
your advice

it is the u joints. too severe an angle. they are turning if the engine is. if you have trim tabs tab mounted electrics are available. a kicker with alternater and steered by tie rod to main outdrive would seem to solve the problem.

I don't have trim tabs but was thinking of adding them as the rear rides low at all but WOT. Who makes the trim tab mountables?
Thanks again
