A few years ago when fishing A 7 foot blue was hooked in the fin, seven of us took turns playing him, had 40# test on a Penn 350 so it took quite a while, but smoked Blue shark is very good. Eventually he played out and was along side the boat (a 36 footer) we got 3 gaffs in to the head and the dumb part hauled him aboard he was not worn out and we really ticked him off. it only took about 30 seconds for 7 individuals to reach the flying bridge. Took about 40 more min before we shared the deck, the one bright part was he did smoke up real great.

So how do you smoke a shark? Does it take a special kind of pipe or can you just roll it up in regular cigarette papers? <br /><br />Hey, don't bogart the shark, man. :D :D

2 gaffs and a harpoon in this 6.5 footer. Got a loop around his tail before we pulled him in the boat too. Then promptly tied his tail to his head. Not much room in a 21' C-Dory to deal with a **** off shark.<br />

That pic was taken last August. I was with friends out of Bandon at what they called the "High Spot". You might know where that is. We got 4 small but keeper halibut and 4 really nice ling cod that day and a beautiful day it was. 18-20 miles off shore with just a comfortable swell. The shark was a bonus but we were prepared with a baited shark rig ready to go.

Just curious. What did you do with the shark? Did you bleed him & use the meat? We normally just let them go so we don't bring them in the boat. I've had guys tell me how to bleed them and they say it's worth the work. Just never tried it.

I was very serious Blue shark smokes up superb for a real treat fillet into narrow strips use your favorite brine solution and roll untill about 3 in thick then take piece of bacon and wrap hold with toothpick then smoke. MMMMMMMMMMMM Also never throw away a wolf eel they have the most tender fillets in the world fine texture great flavour. Ran a charter boat out of Coos Bay for 20 years.

Some sailors consider it bad luck to have a shark aboard.

Re: Shark in the boat

hello<br /> I dunno bout a shark but a buddy of mine grabbed a buck, about a sixpointer from all the damage. they were fishing the nortwest river in chesapeake a few years back and saw it swimming across. thought it was a good idea so they snatched him by the antlers and but him in a 19ft ranger. wow. it was amazing what two drunks and a mad deer can tear up :) :) . I wish I had been there to watch :) .<br /> good luck and keep posting

Okay, this has got to be the alltime stupidest human trick while boating of all time. Or does that prize have to go to a forum member who actually does the deed?<br /><br />A couple questions: does this activity require a fishing, hunting, or hunting/fishing combo license? And do you have to tag the deer? Does your fishing license have the required tag?

Interestingly, authorized license outlets around here print whichever license you want on the same stock, so my fishing license has a form printed on the back on which deer hunters must log every kill. I know a guy who killed a deer in season & tagged it legally but didn't enter it on his log. A warden checking his (combo) license on a fishing trip noticed the missing tag, asked about his deer, and wrote him up on a deer hunting violation in the middle of the lake!

back in Ohio,we had a deer head-butt a sliding glass door in a house because he saw his reflection.he ended up in the living room and the homeowners had the brainy idea to call in a local tv station.they showed up with cameras and bright lights with the scared little buck trapped behind the couch.you can imagine what transpired and THAT they showed on tv !!! :D :D
