I have a '97 Baja Bowrider 180 and just bought a sharkskin custom boat cover for it thru Iboats.com. Since the cover is not "breathable" I also bought "vented poles" to go under the cover.

The problem is that there are no holes already installed in the cover and there are no instructions that came with the vented poles. Assembly of the vents is pretty clear with the exception of how to cut a hole in my brand new cover.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to cut a hole for the pole vents without ruining my brand new custom cover that, by the way, fits PERFECTLY.

Re: Sharkskin Boat Cover

Howdy Baldguy,
Thanks for posting the question. Please always feel free to call us and ask us any questions on products purchased through iboats.com. That is what we are here for! Please consider also getting a bimini top from us sometime so you don't burn that bald head of yours too! ;)

These are the instructions on how to install the vented support pole.

A: Since our boat covers do not come with pre-installed holes for support
poles, you will have to install one yourself. When you put the cover on
your boat for the first time, determine a spot in the cockpit or bow area
that would best support canvas so water will run off. After that, please
follow these 5 easy steps to install a vented support pole:
1. Cut or punch a 2 1/4" hole in fabric. Unscrew wingnut, slide off lower
washer.
2. Put lower washer flange up through hole from bottom side of cover.
3. Push cap down through hole from top side of cover.
4. Screw nut on tightly on bottom side of cover.
5. Push pole into coupler and adjust cover for proper height.

Again, call us with more questions or concerns at 1-800-589-0599.

Re: Sharkskin Boat Cover

Thanks Admin5...that's what I thought I should do, but was just apprehensive about cutting into my brand new cover.

I guess a very sharp razor blade would make a good cut through the material.

By the way....this cover fits perfectly...I'm very impressed and pleased.

Dave
