Well, my one van that I use on my job finally after 378,000 miles said, that's enough and blowed up on the way back in yesterday am.
N/P, I just call my good dealer in NC and tell them what I want and how I want to pay for it and wallaaa, my new van was delivered to me yesterday afternoon.
That's one good thing about them, they will sale them cheaper than anyone else and deliver them to you.
So I replaced the ol girl with a new 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan LWB cargo van.
She was a good un and I was the only one that drove her since new and she gave me lot's of good service.

I see that in your first post, you didn't say what it was. I was betting top dollar it was a 4.3. Have a 91 Astro with 170,000 that still looks good, did a 6200 mile trip last year without a hiccup, and really looking for at LEAST another 100,000. Does what I need it to do (weekly trips for food), and it basically HAS to stay running good...need it to ALSO go to town for boat and motorcycle parts of course, which somehow ALWAYS need something.....:D

What is so special bout a 4.3? We got a 5.8 with somewhere between 380 and 400 thousand on it (Engine outlasts odometer, and we counted it up knowing how long the daily commute was for XXX years, and how many miles it averaged on the weekend.) We are planning on putting quite a few more miles on the old truck before dropping a new engine in.
And no, this was not a "babied engine neither. Can't tell you how many times we overloaded that poor old truck and ran "grand prixes" in the mountains.

Good choice going with the Dodge. My Chevy van is better than the old Ford I had but the the thing I have noticed is with the body parts. Side door hinges have already siezed up and had to be repaired. Front parking light just about fell out due to plastic parts breaking. Better not keep posting the problems because I think it is going to jinx me to have more stuff break. However so far it is a strong drive train. Good luck with the new Dodge Spinner! :D

This can't be right. Only foreign cars last. American cars are junk. At least that's what they keep telling me....

TOYOTA's have more "American" parts than any of the "BIG THREE"

Re: She Blowed Up

I've got a 3rd car I keep around - 1996 Toyota Corolla. It's small, scruddy looking, and has 210k. However, it has NEVER broken down or failed me in any way. The AC blows cold, runs smooth, costs almost nothing to insure, and gets around 35 mpg. When gas prices start rising, my Dodge Ram stays parked and I commute in the Toyota during the week.

My experience is that of foreign branded cars being more reliable. I've had both and I realize the lines are starting to blur as far as % of parts being foreign and so forth, but my previous 2 Hondas were flawless, that Toyota is flawless, our Acura TL is great, and my damn Dodge truck won't stop falling apart. My neighbor has a 2001 F150 that he would like to set on fire if he had other options.
