I am in the process of restoring a 1974 Aristocraft 9-teen with a 165 hp inline 6 cyl GM engine. After replacing many of the engine components , i can get the engine to fire up nicely.I have also replaced the steering cable. I now need to replace the shift lever control assembly however i am a bit stumped. There are no screws visible on the lever (accept for the 2 which seem to hold the top nob) And if i reach around the paneling to get at the rest of the housing there seems to be no screws. There is however a hole in the very center back of the housing which can accept an allen wrench however it does not turn and if i push the long end of the allen wrench into the whole it seems to cause the button which is in the very center of the dial portion which the handle extends from to push outward. Any clues as to how this mechanism comes off would be appreciate. Thanks Leon
