I have a 1993 mercruiser MCM 5.0L serial 0f002209.
My drive is a Gen 2 serial number od899770.

My lower shift cable and bellows were replaced last summer by me and the shifter never seemed quite right after adjustment by the manual. I tried to do the adjustment again today and think I made it worse. It will shift into forward fine but when I pull it back to netural it stays in forward. I then have to slam it into reverse to stop. Then it sticks in reverse unitl I slam in forward again. I followed the manual to the tee. The cable routing is correct and it will shift fine by hand with the lower cable off. What could be wrong?

Thanks to everyone that has helped me this summer. You have saved me a bunch of dollars fixing this old boat. :)

That's very likely since I had the wires disconnected when I was fixing the Ignition Module yesterday. I will check that tomorrow. Thanks Bond-o
