My 1984 220 would not shift into foward or reverse. I adjusted the cable and now I can get one but not both. Cable has some play in it. will a new cable help or could it be the spring in the clutch dog is broke. Was told the spring assist the last little bit . If a new cable doesent help, I guess the lower unit has to be rebuilt. I checked the control box saw no broken parts.. Can there be parts be worn out in the control box,
