Does anyone know the thickness or width of the Core Wire Locating Tool 91-17263 used to space the gap between the shift cable and the bell housing on Bravo outdrives. I have searched the internet and I come up with two answers that do not agree:
- Same width of a paint stirrer
- 0.25"

Can someone can measure one with a caliper? I have the tool used on the engine side of the shift cable.

Thank you

According to a Harbor Freight digital caliper, .25" is correct.

But if you used one of the 25% off coupons when you bought that the measurement is more than likely .1875

Re: Shift Cable Spacing Tool Width

Thank you! Turns out two of my thin cheap paint stirrers is 0.260" which will be close enough.

I realize I bought the wrong tool for the other half. I need 91-17262 which is a tool that has a post to slide the end of the shift cable tube into and a indentation for the barrel to fit into once adjusted properly.

Is there any way someone can give the dimension of this as well? Maybe center of indentation to center of post? Or any other way you want to measure. I won't be able to get the tool for a few days and hoping to go in this weekend.

I'm hoping my new cable is not adjusted correctly because I don't really understand how this adjustment works. It won't fit onto the shift plate as is. Maybe after I adjust it, it will. But in that case, why can't I just adjust it until it fits on the shift plate?
