shift cable which one?

hi guys Looking at Stuart page he talks about GD-ME and KWB-ARY which one do I have? My trunnion had A plastic adjustment on it.The new one is brass is this ok it was p/n 987661.Also there is two different dimension for the end of the cable. One in my book says to set it at 6 1/2 Stuarts is 7 5/8 which one do I use? My outdrive has two numbers on it.The one on the inside is 984757,the one on the lower drive is 985042.hull id is bl3b925jb87 please help thank you Joe

Hi Joe,

We could be a little more help if you tell us who made the engine package (Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC, BMW, Yamaha) and maybe a year it was made. Then we would know what you are talking about.

So far we know the boat is an 87 based on the hull id is bl3b925jb87, the lower drive number you posted of 985042, is it possible it was really 984042? If so that tells me the drive is off an 87 OMC Cobra 3.0 ltr. You should be able to find the engine model number, probably on the rocker cover and if it's an 87 as well then it should end in one of these ARJ, ARY, FTC, SRC, SRY

Yea it would help if I gave the motor type.OMC 3 liter cobra outdrive 1987 bayliner.I know it's has the clutch dogs gust don't know what dimension to use.I understand how to do it all now that's the only thing I don't get.
