Shift Control ?

I have a project going. Doing transom and stringers. going to go Mercruiser instead of OMC. A guy say's my controll on the helm and steering will not work with Mercruiser. Is this true or does he just want my gear. It's a single lever. Don't know the brand right at the moment.

He say's the mercruiser shifts defferent than OMC. The OMC it a mecnical shift, not electric

I meant to say I don't have the electric shift OMC

Ayuh,... It depends on what you have,...
Some controllers are convertible,... Some are proprietary...

Same with the Steering cables,... The OMC Tru-course or whatever it's called is a 1 of a kind...
