Your engine may kill when you shift. If not, you will stress your shift cables, shift linkage and eventually round off the dog clutch teeth and the corresponding teeth in the FWD and REV gears. Properly adjusted, the out drive shift cable resistance moves a cam to kill the engine momentarily to eliminate torque on the dog clutch and allow it to move freely. This is almost undetectable. The only adjustment is the slot where the bolt for the out drive shift cable connects to the lever in the shift plate. Factory setting has this bolt at the bottom of the slot. If the bolt is too high in the slot, the cam becomes over sensitive, and will close the cut-out switch for too long, and the engine kills. This is not intended as adjustable, but if your switch doesn't close at shift, try moving this bolt up and see if you get that momentary engine kill.
