Hi all

Info:- 1972 Mercruiser GM 120 I/Line 4 with Pre Alpha Leg

Can anybody tell me how to set/adjust the shift interlock swith on the inner housing please.

It is operational - but doesn't seem to dip the coil at the right time.

ie it goes into gear and engages forward and will potter along at tickover, but try and accellerate and then it kills the spark and no forward motion is available - she dies.

i can confirm it is the interlock switch that is causing the stall because i have tried bypassing it and all is good - full throttle activity restored.

Obviously its there for a reason to protect the dogs - so i want to set it up properly.

The rocker doesn't seem to interact with the gear select cables as it should.

Any help appreciated as usual please :)

Cheers

If the switch is activated when shifting into gear the lower shift cable is stiff or binding, try lube or replace it.
Good luck!

oh ok...

so its only supposed to operate when selecting neutral - ie pulling out of gear?

i know its supposed to be hard to select neutral without it - but i guessed it was to make selecting gear easier o the engine/leg as well.

cheers buddy
