I own a 1973 SeaRay SRV 190 , 19ft closed Bow, with a Mercrusier 302 engine and an Mercrusier 888 Outdrive. I'm wondering if there is more than just one kind or type of Shift Interruptor Switch? Also is this a common piece to have trouble with?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Shift Interrupter Switch

I was having the engine cut-off problem, but I have that problem fixed , by adjusting the cable . The real problem I have now is that after adjusting the cable , I now have a clicking noise comming from the outdrive sounds to me like maybe some part is not completely in gear or maybe being forced in place. Do i need to back the cable off a little?

Re: Shift Interrupter Switch

You need to readjust your cable. You may have done things backwards. You don't adjust the cable to get the shift interrupt to work correctly. You adjust the cable to shift in and out of gear and then adjust the shift interrupt to activate at the correct time.

Ayuh,.... If you haven't Changed/ Replaced the Lower Shift Cable in recent history,...
That's What/ Where the Problem is,....

You're just masking the route Problem,+ causing Other Problems by Just adjusting a Bad cable...

Thanks guys for the quick response. Bond-O, I was hoping that I would be alright with the present cable. But it is a 1973 and I'm not sure how much use this rig has had, so i 'm going to change to the cable and have the adjustments made properly. Thanks again for your help everyone, This site ROCKS.

You need to start you own post and not dredge up something that's 5 years old. Also use some paragraphs
