I have 1990 Bayliner with 5.0l mercruiser and Alpha 1. Whenever I shift into reverse shift intterupt kills the engine. It works good shifting into forward. Lower shift cable was replaced last year because boat was having the same problem. Any ideas what can be causing it?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the shift cables are out of adjustment. Pushing too far into reverse.

thanks I will try to adjust the cable. Do I have to adjust only lower shift cable or remote shift cable too?

Do the procedure in the video from the start to the end, don't try and cherry pick what you want... (I guess you can... I can't stop you, but if you want to get it right....)

I agree, when you take short cuts in the adjustment, it usually doesn't work quite right and frustration sets in. Then it never gets fixed.
