Quick question as a follow-up to my previous problems:

If I disconnect the lower shift cable, and push it all the way in (full forward) and my drive is grinding, trying to catch, is that a cable problem or a drive problem (or something else like shift shaft)?

Thanks,

Chris

Re: Shift Limits

Could be both, you have to remove the drive for further examination.

Re: Shift Limits

Thanks BT, have had the drive off (and apart) numerous times today. Have one good upper and two good lowers, neither one of them will stay in forward, so I'm guessing it's the cable? Reverse works fine, but can't get it to go into forward, even with the barrel adjusted all the way out. Got it working in the driveway with the 2nd lower, but once I was in the water, it wouldn't even grind. I'm guessing replace the cable, but what would make it have reverse, but not forward?

Thanks,

Chris
