Have taken power head off but I noticed a couple of loose parts laying on base. The parts were two cresent shaped thin parts with a small spring. It looks like the parts are mounted on or near the cresent shaped cam on the throttle and shift linkage. This is my first shot at rebuilding my Merc Mark 28A. I usually can put things back together when I take them apart but these parts were not hooked up to anything! I have the service manual but it not only doew hot have a picture of the link assm but does not have any cutaways to look at. Someone have some ideas or photos of the linkage.

Hi Ron
Do you still have the parts break down of the throtle handle I sent you? If so could the parts in question be #34 &#35? #34 would be the dentent levers and #35 the tension spring. Let me know if this is the case and I will see if I can come up with somthing.

Hi Allen,
Right you are, thanks, I see that now. I forgot you gave me that sheet. I am going to have to take that whole assembly apart as it is binding on corrosion I believe. I have the drive shaft and trans out and the lower unit and prop off. I will get the carb kit and fuel pump and water pump parts and rebuild. I am still wonder what the button on the end of the tiller is supposed to do.

Regards,
Ron
