Trying to get the outdrive off. Instructions say to be in FORWARD gear.
Problem is no matter what position I put the lever into, the prop spins (both directions)
There also isnt any resistence or a satifying "click" to tell me it has gone from one position to the next, just easily moves through all positions.
If I cant get it in forward, can I not get the OD off? Trying to see if the motor will turn as I fear it may be seized....

Look at the front of the drive.....
You will ses a small 'shoe' on the bottom of the bell housing that indexes with the 'arm' on the drive.....
They must face foreward to come apart....
If they are not, then you have a shift cable problem, turn the prop ccw & that arm cw to lock the drive in forward....
The drive should come off....;)

Great, thanks so much.
I Know I have a cable problem, it's snapped at the helm control.
I appreciate it, it's my last of 3 days "vacation" tinkering with this.

Then just Shift it at the shift plate where the 2 cables meet.....
