In the process of removing the PH, the gasket to between the leg and power head stuck and the plate at the top of the leg that hold the water pickup tube pulled up with the power head. This pulled the shift shaft up also.
When i set it back down, pushed the shift shaft back down, not paying attention to how it lined up, and then just flipped it back to what appeared to be the correct alignment. Now it wont rotate back or forward..
When turning the prop the direction it would propel the boat forward, it click with no drive shaft movement. When turning in reverse, the drive shaft spins. Seems to me its in reverse. Also the reverse clamp thing that keeps the motor from lifting while going backward is also latched, leading me to think reverse also.
The "coller/tab(the part that makes the shirt rod turn)" on top of the shift, i can pull it out and rotate it drop it back down with no effect on being able to shift unless it takes a lot of force.
How do i get it back to neutral?! I dont find mention of it in the manual on boatinfo.
thanks for any help.... Id really like to not have to drive around backwards forever now.
