Shift linkage problem

Need help adjusting shift linkage on 3.0L 1989 OMC Chevy. I can get Reverse or Forward gear but not both. I understand that a procedure for setting this exists. The shifting on this control has always been somewhat stiff, but if I remove linkage from control box and and shift unit by hand unit shifts easily. I lubricated all points and control cable from control box also moves smootly now

If you can shift by hand, then your problem lies with your control box or your cables. Have someone shift while you watch and see what's up. It's all mechanical, your cable's could be bound, or not tucked in to the right grove, on either side. <br />Don't be afraid to read your manual, ha ha, if you qualify to own one. <br /><br />Sarah's vote: Favorite Controls<br />Morse single lever!!!!!
