350 merc Alpha 1. I and a friend were working on a shift issue. Hard if not impossible to do. I check the little purple plunger switch on the shift plate. There is constant continuity with the plunger out. Push the plunger in, and the continuity is broken. I think thats backwards if I am not mistaken. (Constantly grounded) We were trying to figure out why the engine was actually speeding up when the plunger was depressed!. Let me know if I have a backward switch.
P.S. Engine is efi. It only stumbles and does not cut out so it ran while constantly grounded.
