New to boating
I replaced the water pump impeller as routine maintenance. When I pulled the lower unit I made sure that the shift shaft and drive shaft did not turn while unit was out. Replaced impeller and put lower unit back on with no problems. Everything lined up. Tested but was looking more at the tell tale and that the water pump was working. Took to the river today and I only have reverse. Linkage from throttle back to engine appears to be working. Do I have to remove the lower unit again? What did I do wrong, it went so smooth? Any help would be appreciated. I read similar threads but wasn't sure if my motor was the same as say the thread for a 40hp.
