Shift rod connection problem. 25hp evinrude

I changed my impeller.<br />When I hooked it all up my shifter is in forward but my gearcase is neutral. shift it back to neutral and it is in reverse. How do I correct this? Thanks <br /><br />I took the boards advice and rebuilt my carb. It runs great but now I messed up the shift. PLEASE help

Smitty....recheck the shift rod connector link. Sounds like you didn't get the shift rod in all the way. Remember, the shift rod link bolt MUST fit in the slot of the shift rod.

... or else somewhere along the line the rod or linkage has got bent.<br /><br />Bit of adjustment should fix it, as OBwanKanobee says!

Thanks for the post Smitty and congrats on the fix.....but could ya' let us in on "what" fixed it? Might help someone else someday......thanks.

I just didn't get it into the coupler far enough. I used a crooked pair of needlenose and pulled it into the slot.
