O.k, I have a 1993 115vro, will the proper measurement for the shift rod be my book for the motor? Recently replaced impeller in lower unit, and now i tried to go in reverse i got a grinding noise.
Did you try adjusting the shift rod while the lu was down? The tolerances on those are minimal, so you should try to keep if from adjusting while down. The specs will definately be in your manual under the Lower Unit section.
