I have a 1998 mercury tracker 40 hp force series elpto i did an impeller swap went beautiful with some help from you fine ladies and gents on here boat was running great and still does in forward loaned it to my mephew so he could take his girlfriend out bad mistake with a few friends and when he brought it back he said you need to adjust something i said what i hadn't taken it out in a month took it out today went to put it in revese which it did but acted and sounded weird in forward ran like a champ in revese one more time sounded funny what could this be a help will be appreciated thanks

I've read this several times and don't know if reverse or forward is OK or the other way around. What is "sounded weird" and "sounded funny"?

Forward is ok it goes in reverse but acts like its half in and out of gear if that makes sense and the grammer cop thing if you had 7 kids you would know why the haste
