Click image for larger version Name:	shift bushing in bell housing.gif Views:	2 Size:	12.5 KB ID:	10723201 I'm going thru a complete reseal on a new to me boat. Doing bellows R&R yesterday I notice the shift shaft in the bell housing on my A1G2 is sloppy. Looking at the price of the upper bushing ( part 6) is damn near fifty bucks!?! It also says oil in parentheses after the part in a parts listing. This bushing is between the gimbal bellows housing and exhaust bellows housing. What oil? Also how important is this bushing? My shifting at the helm did not seem to be compromised. Thanks for continuing my education on stern drives.

The shaft should be tight in the upper bushing and seal and loose in the lower bushing. Oil is for the initial installation of the seal.

thank you wrench3. I appreciate that but when I spoke to the distributor they apologized for the miss-marked price on the web site and gave me free shipping. I had to swear off Sierra parts from prior experience.
