Before I tear something up.......
What is the best way to seal up the shift rod on the early Mercury 200 20 HP's?
It has a small set screw, and a bushing.
My manual says to put the shift rod in a vise, and drive the case away from it.
However I'm not looking to do a whole gearcase rebuild, I'm just looking to reseal the case.
I'm fearing if I do this I'm going to hear a plop or will not be able to put the shift rod back in without removing the prop shaft assembly.
Any tips?
