shift/throtle cables, have they changed

Does anyone know if Mercury hase changed the designe of the cables. I just bought a 1999 135 motor and controle box. It did not come with cables. I do have a good set of cables from my inline 6, with the old mercontrol. can I use these cables with the new controle box?

You can use the old control cables and the old control box, with that new motor. You will need to get a wiring harness with the correct motor-end plug (round), and splice the new wiring harness to the old wiring harness. I ended up getting a zerox of the new motor wiring harness and creating a conversion chart from the old wiring harness. Some of the conversion table is:

'77 inline 6 - '93 135V6

Brown Tach wire to grey tach wire
Yellow starter solenoid to yellow starter solenoid wire
Black ground wiress to black ground wires
Orange killer wire to black-yellow kill wire
White ignition wire to purple accessory wire
Grey choke solenoid wire to ?? enrichener wire
Red power wire to red power wire(or was it red/yellow)
