Shifter adjustment 120hp 1994 Force

Hi everyone,
Wondering if anyone can help me figure out how to adjust my shifter cable. When going from Forward to neutral it grinds a little. I need to put it in reverse a little and then back to neutral. Thank you for taking the time to help.

Remove the shift cable at the motor.
The move the shift linkage until you find N You'll need to spin the prop as you
shift the lever.
Then shift the shifter until you find N
Then turn the trunion until it lines up the cable end.
Re-hook the connector.
Try it in the water.
