Hello again, back for more advice.

My 1978 Terry bass boat has a 85 Johnson Javelin motor. This boat was trashed when I got it, and I am slowly making headway getting it back in shape. There are 2 big problems that are standing in my way.
One is the shifter, someone has put an Evinrude shifter on it and it is crap. the ignitions messed up, I can't adjust it out where it will engage reverse, parts worn out inside, its just ate up!! I am thinking on a new shifter, any advice on this? Or should I try to find a used one? Do shifters come with cables?

Second big problem is that when I got it the foot had no gear oil in it. I put a quart in it and warmed it up and found it to be leaking from out behind of prop.
I have found the kit online to fix but was wondering if someone could give me a copy of the motor diagram with parts. (Especially the foot area) So, if I attempt to fix myself that I will have something to fall back on if parts start falling out when I take apart.
Last little thing I forgot is my trolling motor. I finally got it wired up but sometimes when the blades stops just in the right spot, it will not start again without a little help. It's like there may be a bad spot in the brushes. I have not had it in the water yet and used it under a strain, but I'm hoping this will work this out. Because it seems to be very stout when held back.

All help VERY much appreciated!!!

Controls can be bought without cables. Check iboats megamall.

At ishopmarine.com you can see a parts breakdown of lower unit. Select Parts Lists and go from there.

Have no idea about trolling motor.
