I haven't used my boat in a few months and was getting everything water ready. I put in three new batteries and had some trouble getting the engine started. It turned out I had a wire in the shifter box not getting a good contact. Now that everything is set, I am having a little difficulty getting the fast idle lever right. When I have been able to place it in the place, when I raise the level to warm up the engine it is fine, but when I try to return it to idle, it is not going all the back down to idle rpm. If I didn't really move the cable, why would it do this? So I took it apart and tried to re-assembly it again. This time it seems the little notch for the lever won't stay in it's place. I can raise the lever to warm up, but when I try to return it, it seems to come out of its notch hole. There wasn't a c-clamp or anything holding it when I took it apart. I need a diagram or some advice because I also found a little round spacer in there, that was towards the bottom where the wires were. I don't know if it was there before, but I want to ensure that I place everything back. It's not the notch holder for the shifter either. The steering cables are new and everything was set, but as I mentioned I let the boat sit for about six months so I'm getting everything right. I can turn on the motor fine, but when the level is returned to the down position, the idle is running about 1300-1400 rpms. The motor is 2001 Nissan 140HP 2-stroke with Nissan side controls.
