Awhile ago I asked about modifying my shift cable that was stretched.
I understand some peoples concern at the time was that I was cheap and doing things that were not safe. I can assure you I wouldn't lose safety over $ at any time.
That being said I have been fixing and building things automotive for many years. At 10 I was fixing my gokart each time I snapped a chain or a key on the clutch etc....(31 yrs ago) I have built Race motors for oval track etc.... so I am qualified/experienced to think of ideas outside of the box. If I can make it or fix it verses buying I will do it each time. If I need to buy it, I research so I spend my money wisely. I am frugal not cheap, cheap buys you junk frugal gets you the most for your $.

I have had PM's asking what I had done and how I had made out and I thought I should let everyone know.
I ended up cutting the end off, verifying the cable was not thin or frayed shortening it by 3/4 of and inch and having an end tig welded onto the cable which I shaped to fit. Works awesome.

I will admit one poster - I believe it was whywhyzed (wish he was still here) that said "damn reverse is brakes on a boat." That was a good comment that made me think about what I was doing and making dang sure I was not cutting corners.

Thanks for all everyone asks and answers. Lot's of good ? and answers on this forum. I have learned lots to help me on my way.
