i got a 1971 chrysler 35 hp.i found a chrysler shifter/throttle control for it finally.but i have the same problems that i had with other controls.they work backwards.my outboard was missing the remote unit so i,m going blind.my manual shows the linkage to the carb ,and the forward/reverse lever, but i dont a have a picture of the actual cables hooking to the levers.i'm sure i missing something, but not sure what piece.
what i mean by working backwards is if i run the cables through the front of cowl( only cut out available)(carborator end) the cables want to push the levers,i need them to pull.i tryed a johnson and mercury control withe the same results.if i run the cables around the power head and come from behind(the cylnder head end)they would work but there is no bracket to secure cables.so whats missing?

also the cable ends just have threads,i need somekind of crimp end.

I have a late model 45HP. Hope the linkage hooks the same as yours here is a link to the photo. linkage

If this looks right I have better pictures but the service I use for posting them really reduces the quality. If you want more email me at ralgoetz@comcast.net

Re: shifter control

rsharer...should have a spring loaded socket end on the cable and a ball on the motor linkage end...if you only have a small threaded end on the cabel you are missing some parts...and if that's all it is someone will have what you need sitting around collecting dust, if there was a way to post a pic we could figger it out...just a Thought

Re: shifter control

the pic of the 45 helped alot.i was thinking that the cable sheath was secured and the threaded end hooked to the levers.but it looks like the cable ends hook to the L bracket under the fuel pump and the cable sheath attaches to the levers.so when you move the remote shifter forward it actually moves the entire cable and the end stays put.does that sound right?so all i'm missing is the 2 peices that screw into the L bracket under the fuel pump, and the matching cable ends.

Re: shifter control

The lower cable is for the shifter. The upper one for the throttle. You are correct. The end of each cable is fixed and about 8 inches from the end is a clamp on the cable that slides forward and backwards to shift or change the speed. I have never had this apart so I am of little help. Like I mentioned the photo quality is reduced and I can email you the original photo which gives better detail. Good Luck

I use this place to host pictures for the internet. Once you have signed up and have the ebay link you need to use the full reply form here you can either just post the link by clicking on url and then naming it or you can host the photo by clicking on image and putting the link there. Here is the link to photo island

Click on this link shift arms
Tell me what part numbers you need and I will tell you what the chrysler part numbers and decriptions they are. I am pretty sure the parts for my motor will work on your motor. I will also send you a link to chrysler crew. they might be able to help you locate these parts. Keep an eye on ebay. I see shift cables all the time.
