The shifter on my Merc 125 gives very little power until I've moved it quite a ways forward, then WHAM it takes me to 4000 RPM. This works for tubers - barely - but I don't dare try pulling up a skier with the throttle acting this way.
The 4000-4200RPM seems to keep the boat at a good speed for the tubers, but then it slips slowly backward, and the next thing I know I'm down to 3500 RPM and I can't get the riders outside the wake.
It's a Quicksilver single lever unit, 1997-98. Anybody know if there's an adjustment I should/can make, here, for these two problems?
Thanks,
Dave
