Ok I borrowed this picture from an earlier thread; the 7 and 5/8 measurement is from the front of the bolt 7 and 5/16 and the back of the bolt 7.5inches in Neutral. My 6.5 measurement is good; if I shift into FWD it will not engage without moving the bell crank another 1/4 inch. Can I adjust it and not mess up reverse, soon as I push it locks right up and reverse has no problems at all. Bell crank is at 90 with a square when I made the measurements.

Re: Shifting cable measurement

All measurements are from center of bolt not end or front of bolt.

Re: Shifting cable measurement

Well my bad for not getting my point accross, the nut mounted on the cable itself, it looks brass, not the cable end mount bolt, other end.

Check that out.

I got the 7 5/8 right, then with engine side cable removed and shifter all the way forward, i pulled the transome shift cable all the way forward to engage forward at the prop.then i turned the brass cylinder nut unit it fit in the bell crank. That sets the forward adjustment. Then move it to reverse and adjust that with the stud hooked up with the slotted hole.
