shifting noise

86 Johnson 90hp v4<br />When i shift from neutral to forward or reverse there is a clicking sound. It doesn't grind or last long, just a couple of times when you shift. Is this normal or what.

Yes its normal. To avoid rounding off the clutch dogs make shifts quickly. Don't "ease" into gear.
