Shifting Problem

Have a 1987 5.7 with an Alpha one outdrive haveing problems shifting gears. I have trace it down to the shift foot rod in the gimble, it is hard to move. I put penitrating oil on it for 2 days and it def got better, shifted fine for 30 min then started sticking again , any sugestions?? I dont think i can get it out without cutting it. Bob.....

You probably have corrosion build up on both sides of the plastic washer (C) in the picture below. Dissassembly and cleaning things up is the only cure.

Thanks Don. i will try the heat and hope it works to get the screw out. and shaft out. Will let you know how it works. I thought it might be buildup on the shaft just hope the oil woud have worked. Again thank you
