I have a 1972 25hp Johnson, tiller steering, motor will not go forward. The lever moves but I don't feel it engage in gear. It shifts into reverse just fine. I did notice the shear pin was broken but pior to noticing this it still went into reverse. I don't think the pin could have broke in such a way that allowed it to go backwards and not forward. Where do I look to solve my problem and what do I look for.

Thanks

Re: Shifting problem

The pin can break so you have no forward, but may have a little reverse.Have you replaced the broken pin and tried again ?

DHP
