Ok so i took my boat out to the lake yesterday to run it alittle due to havnt ran my boat much this year so i wanted to put it in the water and run it for a bit to keep parts moving and lubricanted.

Anyhow i have a 95 maxum with a 120hp force. When i put boat in the water i put boat in reverse and it went into reverse perfectly.
I then shifted to forward and it shifted perfectly.
I rode around the lake for about a good 10-15 mins mainly at wot.
I got ready to head to the dock. Once i got closer to driving my boat on trailer i tried to shift to reverse to slow the boat down a bit. At the moment shifting to reverse so hard. It was so hard i thought i was gonna break the plastic shifting control.
When i got the boat home i played with the shifting and still was hard going into reverse. I then took throttle cable off the tower shaft. Still hard shifting. I then took shif cable off shifter on motor. Finally the shifting control moved from forward to reverse easily. So i now know the issue is somewhere down the leg in lower unit.
Could someone with knowledge explain to me how much of a pain in the you know what this problem will be to fix. I wanna know what im getting myself into before taking lower unit off. Something has to be binding i suppose. Thanks for any knowledge.

Drain lower. Any water? Any oil? Any metal? Pressure test if any issues. If no oil or there is metal prepare to disassemble and inspect
