Hi guys my boat is
Shifting better and smoother without the shift assist , do I really need it??

I have a 2003 bayliner 205 5.0 Alpha 1 gen 2

Also question about the Trim limit, when I press the trim up it doesn't stop ? But i stop it when its like 80% the bellows start making noises lol

How to test the trim limit ?

So many folks don't swiftly shift the drive, the assist is there to give those folks a little help to save the gears in the drive. You don't have to have it.

For the trim to bring it full up, it may be bypassed. Check to see if the purple/white and the blue/white wires are not jumped together. If its not jumped then the trim limit is on the starboard side and either needs adjusting or replacement. I say need, but it really doesn't have to be replaced if you watch how high the drive is brought up.

Loosen the screws and see if you can adjust it for 21 3/4 inches (max can be less) between the ram studs

That's the thing when I move the trim limit the drive doesn't budge .. so I guess it's either shot or bypassed like u said

It makes sense now why all those metal saftey wires are all ripped on this drive someone probably trimmed it up to much ?

Will it eventually stop if I trim all the way up? Am I at risk if I do trim all the way up?

So I'm safe to have the shift assist out if I shift swiftly ?
Seems like sometimes i hear no clunk if I shift slow and. Sometimes there's a little grinding .. lol

I'm curious as to why you would want to remove the shift assist?

What metal safety lines? Are you talking about the small stainless steel wires / cables? Those are grounding wires and keep everything bonded together for corrosion control.
