Ok, I have the out drive removed from my 89 OMC cobra to change the gears, bearings and seals in the upper gear case. Can I just use the same shims for the gears (bearing carrier)when I am putting them back together or will I have to remeasure. If the gears and bearing are the same as the originals nothing should change, right? And if so is there a way to take these measurements before I pull the gear case compleatly apart.
