I know fedex ground, they have a luggage tag that the lable goes in. (I'd put the tracking # somewhere else on a sticker too)

If you don't want it dented, don't do it that way, cause if it CAN bend, it WILL bend during shipment.
just a few thoughts ....

wood crate, than ship.
-or-
for less weight, purchase/find/make a cardboard a box, wrap frame and pack using packing foam.

good point, pointer...
This is an early '40s chief frame with the foot board tabs cut off and it had some sheet metal panels welded on it so I don't think it well sell for much so I don't want a big hastle in shipping or building a create. Thanks for the ideas though.
unless it's a local sale, i would sure crate it
OMC. maybe add a crating charge? u may be surprised
what this old girl brings...
where's flathead when we need him? LOL
good luck,
M.Y.
I just dug the frame out of the shed and it turns out that it is a 1951 chief frame # C4274 and is really in alot better condition then I thought. I also pulled out a 5 hp outboard that I almost fotgot I had, I'm not sure what make it is, I think a clinton but I'll have to check it out when I get back up there. Its time for me to get rid of some of this stuff.
Hey OMC, is (are) this Ebay items? If so, Ebay has lots of info on seller help pages to answer your questions.

BTW, an original OEM antique Indian frame may be of considerable value. Also, any other Indian stuff in that shed?
Pat, I sold most of my Indian parts awhile ago and lost some Indian and vintage Harley parts in a divorce (NOTE, NEVER EVER LEAVE YOUR HOUSE, you will get a restraining order slapped on you to stay away and your stuff will vanish.) Don't even get me started on this. :mad Flahthead had the idea of letting the buyer arrange deliverly.
Update: The buyer finally wanted his frame shipped. He went to Starklite Indian co. to see how they ship frames and it was by ups. I wrapped the neck and spring perch's as directed and took it to ups. They said they couldn't take it because the total inches was over 130. I then called the ups 800# and they said I could ship it because the total inches (L+W+H) was under 165 inches. After a few phone calls I discovered that a ups stores (theupsstore.com) can take larger items then the regular ups shipping places.
