Shocked from Fish Finder Transducer... is this normal?

We were out on the lake yesterday and I ran over our ski rope and it knocked my fish finder/depth finder head up so it wasn't reading correctly. I jumped in the water and pushed the transducer down with my hand and got good shock. This is an older Lowrance fish finder. Is a transducer supposed to do this?

Yes, transducers are capable of supplying a pretty good shock but they shouldn?t unless the housing has been compromised.

So should this be replaced? This fishfinder/transducer came with the boat when I bought it last year and seems to work fine. I don't really have the cash to replace it right now, but would find a way if this is dangerous or something.
