i have a 1994 jeep with 141000 miles on it, it has the original shocks, was wandering was kind of shocks to replace with besides monroe, any suggestions, thanks for input!
why not monroe? with that kind of milage anything will be better than whats on there. what kind of driveing all street on road off road? I have had good luck with monroe sensa tracs for on road(run them on my truck). have installed alot of rancho rs4000 for on and off road.
truck is used for daily driving, hows is the rancho 4000 shocks, guy at sears told me that they ride hard, although i have high miles the truck runs and looks very good i do not go 4 wheelin with it, hsd the transmission rebuilt and added external cooler to it, not the best on gas 4.0 six but it runs damn good, also do you use 10-40 oil was usin 10-30 swithched over to a heaver oil, will use 10-30 for winter!
We have a '95 with 195,000 on the same 4.0 motor. Great motor. If you think it gets crumby mileage, try the Dodge 3.9 v6 like I have in my Dakota. We almost always tow with the Jeep cuz it gets about 6 more mpg!

Shocks were replaced on ours shortly before we got it, so I cant' help you out there. We run 10w30 except in the winter we run 5w30.
Disclaimer: I know almost nothing about shocks or brands.
I bought rancho R or RS 9000 for my truck a few years ago because they were on sale at the time and I wanted to be able to adjust them.
Most of the time street driving, but then on other jobs needed to haul 2-3 thousands pounds
They have worked very well.
However if you do go with adjustable shocks use my 20/20 hind sight! Go the extra mile and use the kit that allows you to adjust them from inside the vehicle! You can thank me later

Sounds like just a good set of shocks would work for your purpose and you don't need to go to the extra expense of adjustables.

My .02
I just put the sensa tracs on my truck and they work well for me. mostly street use and pulling the boat, some dirt roads and light off road, no mud boggs etc. I really noticed the traction differance!
