Anyone have any good tips on getting an old shoot thru hull ducer off. The dealership who originally installed it used a lot of epoxy. Any ideas, or do I need to just start dremeling it off.

If it's not leaking it may be best just to leave it as is. If you need to install another "shoot thru" drill another hole and epoxy. Otherwise, dremel maybe the only option.

Why would it leak...shoot thru hull...?

I would grind it off, it's probably the best location for your new transducer.

Then why the comment "drill another hole and epoxy?"

You'll have to ask him. With a shoot-thru, the only thing that's going to leak is the mineral oil, and if it is, it would be leaking at the base because of an improper seal between the base housing and the hull bottom, or a bad o-ring on the transducer body.

But drill another hole and epoxy...?

That's what makes me think it was a through hull type, and not a shoot through. Common mistake.

I just posted the same question pretty much and then I found this one.

Did you have any luck removing the transducer? Is/was yours on a fiberglass hull? I am going to need to remove one also, and im not sure how to do it.
