Hi All,

I am starting to shop for a brand new boat, and this is a new process for me. My last boat I bought used 5 years ago and is 20 years old.
So I have two primary questions:
1) How much room do I have to move on the price of a new boat? If the boat is $25,000, is getting 10% off fair, too low or too much to ask? Quite honestly I feel the buyer has the power here.
2) I am in Wisconsin, and we have a large boat show in January. Are boat shows generaly a good place to find a good price since we really cannot use if for 4-5 more months? Or is that more of a marketing gimmick to sell boats?
I am looking at an 18-19 foot runabout, like crownline 18ss, galstron GT 185, maybe a Larson or similar.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I think if you found a boat at a boat show in January you would not take delivery for a few months, although the dealer may push the floor model on you. If so, simply compare the savings to storage and carrying costs for those months.
