Shore Power Question

Boat: 2000 Bayliner Cierra 3055 w/twin 350's. Have Kohler generator and automatic battery charger.
Situation: My 110V outlets, radio, and most accessories do not operate unless I have the power supply battery turned on. The refrigerator DOES run directly. I have power on both circuits coming into the boat and have my toggles swithed to ON for accessories, etc. at the distribution panel. The literature I have does not give any detail on the electrical set-up.
Question: Is this the standard arrangement? If yes, do others leave the battery in the on position when you have a small heater or other component on in the cabin (i.e. mildew control)?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Re: Shore Power Question

You might want to join the Bayliner Owners Club at www.baylinerownersclub.org and ask your question over there. Lots of 3055/305 owners there.

I have a 99 3055 but without the genny so my wiring may be different than yours. For the record I always leave my batteries ON when not aboard.

I do belong to Bayliner Owners Club but confess I get much better info here. All my infop says turn batteries off at shore. Do yours have any shorter life from keeping them on?

As best I can tell the battery life is not shortened by leaving the switches on. I get 4 to 5 years out of a set of batteries. I don't purchase starting batteries all 4 of mine are deep cycle. Seems to work well especially when spending time on the hook with the fridge running. I will start and run the engines for 20 minutes every other day while at anchor to keep them powered up.

So far, 9 seasons, that has seemed to work.
